Time's up for Windows 10 - Don't risk trouble.
Published 6th May 2025
Microsoft will officially end support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. After this date, devices running Windows 10 will no longer receive security updates, bug fixes, or technical support. This means they will become increasingly vulnerable to security threats and compatibility issues.
Microsoft is now focusing on Windows 11 as its new main operating system. To stay protected and compliant, schools will need to transition to Windows 11 before the deadline.
Windows 11 has stricter hardware requirements, such as newer processors. School devices, especially those from 2017 or earlier, may not meet the necessary specification. In those cases, these devices will need to be replaced with a Windows 11 compatible alternative.
We recommend reviewing your current device inventory with your consultant, checking compatibility with Windows 11, and budgeting for replacements devices. Addressing this now will help avoid disruption and ensure continued access to secure and supported systems.
There are many options available to schools including potentially extending the life of older incompatible hardware in certain circumstances, we can discuss these options through with you to get the best for your school.
Interm IT are available to assist with this transition. We can:
